As a GP trainer, I am passionate about developing the future GP workforce; and as an Associate Professor at the UEA Norwich Medical School also enjoy all aspects of teaching medical students.

I also mentor other doctors through revalidation and support and encourage retention of our GP workforce.

In 2017, I was awarded the accolade of Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practice.

Outside of working hours, I enjoy Zumba dancing, watching Norwich City and socialising with friends and family.

Dr Samita Mukhopadhyay – Female

MBBS, MRCGP, MA(Med Ed)

I originally qualified in India and worked in Gynaecology and Obstetrics for 5 years. I retrained as a GP in the UK due to the demands of family life; which on the positive side has left me more compassionate to the upheavals in the lives of my patients. I hold a Masters in medical education and have experience of teaching undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors. Therefore I enjoy collaborating with clinicians of differing levels of experience and patients who seek better understanding of their illness.

After 22 years of full time work as a GP, I now work two days at Orchard Surgery and one day at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals as a Medical Examiner. The latter role gives me insights into the journeys of my patients when they are admitted to hospital.

To keep myself out of trouble I go birdwatching(as a novice), sing in a community choir(badly) and help run our village cinema.

Dr Konyinsola Emeya – Female

MRCGP

I started work as a General Practitioner in October 2022 having completed my GP training in August 2022 under the Norfolk Training programme, East of England. During my GP training programme, I had rotations in renal medicine, endocrinology, emergency medicine, geriatric medicine, as well as general practice. During my rotations in general practice, I have also gained good experience in paediatrics, mental health, men’s health, women’s health and in managing chronic diseases.

Earlier in my medical career, I worked as an SHO at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, Kent for 11 months in Geriatric medicine as an employee of NES Healthcare Ltd. Prior to this, I worked in the private and public health sector in Nigeria for 11 years before relocating to the United Kingdom in 2018.

I am passionate about mental health and the care of the elderly, and I also enjoy all aspects of my job as a general practitioner. Patient-centred care forms the core of my practice, and I am focused on providing safe and quality care using a holistic approach to meet my patients’ healthcare needs. I work collaboratively with my patients to provide management plans that are tailored to their problems and goals. I can also offer considered medical opinions on any aspect of primary care, diagnosis and treatment.
